Building a Safer Workplace

TOGETHER WE BUILD

TIMBERLINK SUPPORTING TASMANIANS

Everyday, our high-tech Bell Bay mill transforms sustainably grown Tasmanian plantation pine into quality timber products. Our products are then used to make almost anything, from a simple packaging pallet, to the structure of a mid-rise building. Your purchase supports our Bell Bay community by keeping jobs in Tasmania. It also helps the environment as you are choosing a responsibly sourced, renewable building product that is low carbon.

BUILDING LOCAL JOBS

By purchasing Timberlink timber products you directly support local jobs. You support the 200 Tasmanians employed at our Bell Bay mill in a range of diverse roles including saw doctoring, mill optimisation, supply chain management, accounting, sales and customer service just to mention a few.

You also support all the local businesses we use to transport our timber across the State, keep our mill up and running and our people well fed. It has been estimated that every year our Bell Bay mill indirectly adds $150M to the local economy.

If you would like to work with us, send us your details using our online form.

BUILDING STRONG COMMUNITIES

Being a significant regional employer at Bell Bay, we understand our success is linked to the strength of our local community. We have a responsibility to provide sustainable employment so our people can plan for their future. Our success is inextricably linked to our community remaining strong.

Without even including wages paid, almost three quarters of our Bell Bay mill’s total monthly expenditure is spent locally. We also support local events, activities and organisations through our sponsorship program.

We would love to support every application we receive for assistance, however due to the volume of requests we receive we can’t. To help you with your application, we are happy to share the selection criteria we use when assessing requests. If you would like a copy or want to apply for sponsorship please contact us via our online form here.

BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

Every product we make has low embodied energy, creates minimal waste, sequesters carbon and when used in the home or workplace makes you happier and healthier.

The logs we use are all grown in independently certified Tasmanian plantations and we are the only major Australian sawmilling business to hold both FSC and Responsible Wood environmental certifications.

These growing trees remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and then store it as carbon for life. Did you know your deck also doubled as a carbon storage device?

BUILDING A SAFER WORKPLACE

We make safety an integral part of our business. We don’t want our people to become a statistic. Our Safety Beliefs form a set of guiding principles we use to assist in making decisions about how to carry out our work. At Timberlink, we believe:

  • All injuries are preventable
  • We look out for our mates
  • No task is worth compromising safety for
  • Management is accountable for safety performance
  • Safety starts with you
  • Training employees to work safely is essential

But safety isn’t just something you need to think about at work. We urge you to think about how safety is going to follow you home, impact your personal life and become embedded in your everyday thinking. Come home safely everyday.
